Mark Twain Quotes Even Huck Would Love

Mark Twain

Mark Twain quotes prove difficult to resist.  Read one, and before you know it, you're floating down the Mississippi with Huck and Jim, or in a Nevada silver mine, or bouncing around in a stagecoach through the mountains of the great west.

One read through some quotes from Mark Twain, and his colorful life is evident.  His early works showcase his unique wit and humorous inclinations.

Works that he authored later in life more grimly embody the sorrows that he endured, including the deaths of loved ones and his own bout with deep depression.

"The Father of American Literature" WM. Faulkner

Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens, Mark Twain's his most famous works have to be The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.  His unwillingness to tiptoe around pressing Civil War Era issues, such as slavery, earned Huck's Adventure the classification of a Great American Novel.

Twain's flirting with adventure gave his work a depth that one can't grasp from a desk.  As a child, he hated school (and educated himself in a library), ran away from home often, witnessed more than one murder, traveled extensively, fought for women's rights, worked to invent gadgets that would eventually bankrupt him, and predicted his brother's (and his own) death.
