John F. Kennedy Quotes with Pride

John F Kennedy QuotesJohn F. Kennedy quotes are products of a man who loved his country.

The 35th President of the United States was the first to face the possibility of nuclear war, put a man on the moon, include the arts (prominently) in the American national councils, and hold a conference on the subject of environmental conservation.

John F. Kennedy quotes reveal a man who was ahead of his time, concerned for the future, and loyal to the American ideal.

John F. Kennedy Quotes from a Courageous Veteran

Though rejected by the army due to a spinal disc injury, John undertook an exercise regime that scored him acceptance by the U.S. Navy.  Following the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor, he requested an assignment at sea and got it, in 1942.  While there, his PT boat was hit by a Japanese destroyer.  Two of his men were killed, and two injured.  It took three hours for the six survivors to swim back to the wreckage, and another five hours to swim to an island, where they were rescued several days later.  John had to tow one man to shore, exacerbating his back condition.  This, coupled with a bout with malaria, forced him to retire as a full lieutenant in 1945.

He underwent back surgery, and in 1954 experienced another recurrence of pain, requiring him to use crutches.  During this time, he wrote his best-selling book, Profiles in Courage, which told true stories of moral courage and won the Pulitzer Prize.

The Political Career from which Many John F. Kennedy Quotes were Born

JFK served in the House of Representatives from 1946 to 1952.  He then served as a U.S. Senator from 1953 to 1960.  In 1961, he began his too-short tenure as President of the United States, from which many John F. Kennedy quotes have been extracted.  During that period, he would face the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Berlin Crisis, the Freedom Riders Uprising, and the Nuclear Testban Treaty with the Soviet Union.

Some of his not-so-enduring, but notable, endeavors included the Alliance for Progress, the Peace Corps, and the Green Berets.

A President Venerated in John F. Kennedy Quotes

JFK's life was ended by an assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, at a Texas rally in JFK's honor.  In many ways, his nation still grieves for one of their most beloved presidents.  Mercifully, he has been memorialized in many ways, including the quotes from John F. Kennedy found here.

Adopt a John F. Kennedy quote as a model of patriotism and duty to country; look to quotes by John F. Kennedy for archetypes of collaboration and peace; and find the legacy of a man who, in his short life, managed to touch upon the dreams of countless Americans.
